Rustic Outhouse, Iceberg Wilderness, California - Bathroom Review
Outhouses are one of those things that you typically don't really appreciate until you've gone without a real bathroom for several days. Though I myself do not prefer outhouses and would avoid one at all costs, one of the ladies on my backpacking trip was more than excited to see this standalone outhouse practically in the middle of nowhere.
The outhouse itself was actually in quite good condition and it appears as if it has had some upkeep performed on it. Quite small compared to most outhouses I have seen, it's appearance in the woods was both odd yet fitting. It was very clean inside and had none of the standard smell most people associate with outhouses. Granted, this one probably seldom is used so there isn't the overflowing problem that outhouses in more trafficked areas tend to encounter. The design itself I thought was very fitting for the location, about the only thing missing was the moon on the door that seems to be common place. There wasn't really any artwork to be found on it though I'm still going to give it points as it was found to be in such a beautiful location. Of course, it was free of graffiti and vandalism though I'm certain had I choosen to look a little closer I might have found some creative carvings in the wood. This outhouse earns itself a 5 flush rating.
