Longitude Bar & Restaurant, Oakland, California - Bathroom Review

Downtown Oakland is going through a transition away from sketchy and unsafe to hip and modern. I haven't been to downtown in probably 20 years as I never have any reason to go however my friend had a friend who was celebrating a birthday so I found myself at the Longitude Bar & Restaurant in Downtown Oakland. The outside didn't leave much for impression, it just appeared to be a small bar on the corner but walking inside was a revealing experience! It felt like an old style tiki bar with a beautiful 1930s junglish type of theme. It was a very pleasent surprise and we found the upstairs lounge for our party to be quite sufficient for hosting a nice intimate party.

I wasn't really planning on doing a bathroom review at this place since I really wasn't thinking about doing work while at the party. It was my friend that visisted first and came back raving about the bathroom and insisting I had to go take a look. I was rather skeptical that it could be anywhere as good as was claimed but went anyway. To my surprise, the bathroom at the Longitude is hands down, the most impressive I have seen thus far. It was clean, it was vandalism free, it had design it had artwork and it had LOTs of Graffiti! Wait... Graffiti you say? Yup! The owner decided to embrace the rough and tumble downtown reputation of Oakland and import that inside of the bathroom by using painted chalkboard walls and leaving chalk so that patrons could perform their own graffiti artwork. What was written was a mixture of random names, phone numbers, pickup lines and attempts at humour but all done in a nice, clean way. The result was a bathroom covered in graffiti that was pleasing to the eye! Even more interesting was the random clawfoot bathroom tub located in the bathroom. As one of the graffiti artist scribbled on the wall with a big arrow pointing down and the word "WHY?" which seemed about right. All of these elements added up to a bathroom that is hands down, the most impressive bathroom I have visisted today and is a must see!
