Crater Lake National Park Visitor Center, Oregon - Bathroom Review
Visiting Crater Lake National Park in Oregon was an experience I will not forget anytime soon. Having spent almost no time in Oregon prior to this visit (other than traveling on I5) I found myself enjoying the state more and more with every mile driven. The natural beauty of the state just cannot be ignored and the good roads and lack of trash on the side of the roads is in stark contrast to California Highways. Oregon seems to have that small town feeling wherever you go and there is always interesting scenery to look at to get there.
When we arrived at the visitor center I popped into the bathroom to see if I could get a few good pictures of the facility used by tens of thousands of people every year. What I found was a clean and well appointed facility but lacking in anything artistic. The design was functional and even included a baby changing station in the men's side which is a nice acknowledgement that the modern day father. One of the greatest notes was the use of an eletric hand dryer which is becoming more and more common in place of paper towels. We offer American Dryer Company's excellent eXtreme Air series of hand dryers for our customers that need a rugged and fast hand dryer for their clients. Hand dryers are an excellent way to reduce the environemental footprint of a bathroom and also eliminate the possibility of vandals stuffing paper towels down toilets and clogging them.
Also of interest is the flushless urinal that is installed. As a native of California experiencing one of the worst droughts in recent years, it is always refreshing to see facilities that take an active effort to reduce water consumption in bathroom facilities. Because of this water saving effort, I will give credit to the Design aspect of this facilities rating. Overall I think the bathroom was clean, functional and free of vandalism so it will receive a very solid 4 flush rating.
