Chateau Lobby, Oregon Caves National Monument, Oregon - Bathroom Review
The idea to stop at the Oregon Caves National Monument during our summer road trip was my dad's and boy was it a great idea! After sleeping on the hard and dusty ground for four nights, having a bed and hot shower was a welcome depature from the camping lifestyle. The Chateau lobby has that old time hunting lodge precisely because that is pretty much what it is! From beautiful open beam construction the unique furniture and just overal time capsule, it was such an experience. What I found interesting is that most hotel lobbies have never been very appealing to just sit and relax in but the Chateau that was an entirely different case. The layout, design and accomodations just invited one to sit, relax and watch as people came and went.
The lobby bathroom for the men was actually contained downstairs near the diner (the women's restroom was on the same floor). Walking into the restroom was almost like walking backwards in time to a different era. Though the bathroom was fairly tight space wise, it was bright and well lit. The fixtures like everything else in the lodge were dated to the 1930s. Ironically, though the design could be considered "dated" it was actually very cool in a retro 1930s style way. The facility itself was very clean which would be expected for a lodge like this. There wasn't really any artwork to speak of though there was a nice touch of tiling that gave it some good taste. Of course the bathroom was free of graffiti and vandalism as well. Overall this facility deserves a solid 5 flush rating!
