Bidwell Mansion, Chico California - Bathroom Review
John Bidwell and his wife Annie Bidwell were pioneers of the west. The links provided are fascinating stories of their contributions to California during it's early years. Bidwell Mansion was built by John for Annie while they were courting. Featuring at the time modern in door plumbing, they were one of the first homes in the area to have indoor toilets. The design of a toilet has certainly evolved quite a bit in the 150 years since these bathrooms were made but the basics are still pretty much there. I have given this bathroom very high remarks in Artwork just because they are so unique compared to today's bathrooms. Of note, one of these toilets is shaped similar in fashion to an elephants head with the trunk. I've given this bathroom a 5 Flush rating though I don't believe it is functional anymore. Just the idea of being the first in the area of indoor plumbing and the novelelty of the design warrants the rating. I am especially curious on how much water pressure came from the water boxes being placed so high overhead.
