Bear Valley Ski Lodge, Bear Valley, California - Bathroom Review
Bear Valley is a place that I have heard about often but have never been to before. When we finished our four day backpacking trip, we were hungry for some good food. Ordinarily a Taqueria would be the typical stopping point after a good backpacking trip but there did not seem to be any of those nearby. We decided to pull into Bear Valley Ski Resort and see if there was anything that we could eat there. Bear Valley resort actually looked barely open, a product of probably 4 years of drought has had an impact on the visitors to the region. We almost gave up as we drove around looking for something to eat at but then spotted in the lodge a Pizza place that was open. When we walked in it was a bit funny to see everyone look up at us from their seats. Not sure if it was because we were not locals or perhaps four days without a shower and a scraggly beard made us a sight to behold. Either way, we sat down and ordered a nice Pizza that was soon quickly devoured!
Seeing that we had a long drive ahead, I decided to take a stop off at the bathroom. I wasn't expecting much out of a ski lodge bathroom, it's been about a decade since I was last skiing but my memory seemed to be the bathrooms are mostly concrete and utilitarian. I wasn't that far off as I walked in and was greated with perhaps one of the most utilitarian bathrooms I've seen in my travels. Nothing fancy, just functional for business and that was it. The facility decently clean but the design was lacking, not even a glimmer of artwork though it was mostly free of vandalism save for the graffiti etched all over the mirrors. At best I'll give this a two flush rating as it just dissapointed on almost all counts.
